Noisettes – Never Forget You

Posted by English | Posted on 27-07-2010

Now this track is far from new but it is classic as far as Im concerned, and that why I have to share it with you. “Break-up songs and make-up” songs are ten a penny, but “even-though-it-didn’t-work-out-we’re-still-friends-right?” songs don’t come around so often. But when they do, and when they’re done right, they can be pretty devastating. A case in point is ‘Never Forget You’, the Noisettes latest single. ‘There is just something spectacular you feel when you listen to this song. It reminds me of Raphael Saadiks last album. Shingai Shoniwa’s voice and the bands sounds is like something straight out of the 60’s.

“Since bursting on the scene with a collection of lifestyle shoes inspired by one of the greatest signature sneaker franchises of all-time, Gourmet has come into its own. Offering a collection featuring both timeless profiles as well as some silhouettes that re-visit and re-appropriate classics, we took the opportunity to catch up with the brand’s three founders. Each possessing their own respective and relevant backgrounds prior to Gourmet, we follow Greg Lucci, Jon Buscemi and Greg Johnsen for a day at the tracks and back to the Gourmet headquarters to chop it up with Jon Buscemi.”

Parkour and Freerunning – Dancing With The Obstacles

Posted by English | Posted on 25-07-2010

This dude isn’t as stunt heavy as my boy Damien Walters but he definitely has mad style!! Its like he’s combining free running with breakdancing using real obstacles in urban environments. Plus the video samples one of my favorite Bruce Lee quotes of all time. Very dope!!

Primitive Presents Justene Jaro in Underwear & Nike Air Max 90 Infrared

Posted by English | Posted on 24-07-2010

One of my all time favotite Nike runners are back once again!!!  As many of you know, The Nike Air Max 90 has become quite the icon since it’s debut in 1990. It is the second running shoe created by Tinker Hatfield that displays a Visible Air Window on it’s exterior. No matter how many times the original Infrared colourway sees a retro release, it’s re-arrival is always welcomed with open arms. Being huge fans of classic runners as well, the peeps at  Primitive decided to offer a tee to go along with the kicks. They recently caught up with the beautiful & curvaceous JUSTENE JARO to join in the fun. They asked her if she was down to pose in underwear & Infrareds, and she was cool with the concept. This is a behind the scenes video from that photo shoot…

What Are We Teaching Our Children About God??

Posted by English | Posted on 22-07-2010

I wouldn’t consider myself an atheist by any means but I’m definitely far from religious. Although I have a high respect for religion and the peace it provides individuals I have always been critical of the interpretation of scripture and the persecution of innocent people on behalf of scripture. I came across this video on my friend Dan’s Facebook page and it made me think about the relevance of religion in our modern world. I truly believe spirituality is a necessity to all those seeking balance and contentment in their lives but is religion? I’m not saying that it time to irradicate religion from society but I do think its time for us to teach our children the difference between scripture and the pure messages found in most religions.

New Video: Birdman Ft. Lil Wayne & Tyga – Loyalty

Posted by English | Posted on 21-07-2010

If there’s anything that Cash Money is known for, it’s a sense of Loyalty and family values. Now, Cash Money’s head honcho, Birdman, recruits Wayne and Young Money’s (Most-Improved) artist Tyga for his new single, Loyalty. Lyrically, Birdman and Weezy deliver their exactly what you’d expect; it’s Tyga’s hook and verse that are the stand-out ingredient in the Cash Money recipe while Kane Beatz and The Mad Violinist (a.k.a. “The Building”) team up for production credits, giving us a soulful and inspirational beat that adds the icing on the billion-dollar Cash Money cake. Expect this to be on Birdman’s upcoming album, Bigger Than Life, coming soon.

Hilarious New Old Spice Commercial

Posted by English | Posted on 20-07-2010

Thank you, Old Spice and the Internet, as this week you have given us another commercial featuring the hilarious, heroic and always amazingly scented Isaiah Mustafa. I recently saw this commercial in the movie theatre while waiting to watch Inception (*The Best movie of 20X) and knew instantly I was going to post it. The new commercial features Mustafa log-rolling, circular-sawing, cliff-diving, motor-biking and stealing hearts once again. If commercials can be legendary, then these commercials are legendary. I mean their commercials for Odor Blocking Body Wash and their normal Body Wash have gotten over 18 million hits on YouTube, and a contract for their star, Isaiah Mustafa to star in an NBC sitcom. As far as I’m  concerned this set of Old Spice commercials are up there with the “I Love you man…” commercials Budweiser ran in the 90’s.

New Video: Maroon 5 – Misery

Posted by English | Posted on 16-07-2010

In the video for Maroon 5′s catchy new single “Misery,” frontman Adam Levine gets dropped from the sky; hit by a car (repeatedly); beaten soundly in a bathroom stall; thrown through a plate-glass window; hurled from a great height; and shot at with a bazooka. He suffers these indignities at the hands of a heavily eyelinered woman, with whom he canoodles during her brief breaks from trying to murder him. I think there might be a metaphor in there somewhere.

NIKE Presentents: The World Cup 2010 at the Motalban Theatre

Posted by English | Posted on 15-07-2010

Montebaln

After a long awaited 4 years this years 2010 FIFA World Cup, held in South Africa, was far from a disappointment. The tournament ended with a 116th minute goal by Spain’s Andres Iniesta to give his team a 1-0 win and their first ever World Cup title. There were plenty of exciting moments along the way that are definitely worth remembering and i had the privilege of experiencing many of those moments at the Nike World Cup Headquarters at The Ricardo Montalban Theatre in Hollywood.

Nike Crowd

Each game I attended at the space was a unique and special experience. As I approached the theatre for each game my eyes and ears were met by a sea of super fans lined up and down the block. Flags were waving, Horns were blaring, whistles were whistling, and hundreds of people were screaming and chanting while being ushered into the space.

Superfans

At each match I met great people from countries all around the world; Spain, Netherlands, Paraguay, Germany, Mexico, Brazil.  The energy and enthusiasm of the fans was unparallelled  by any other sporting experience i have has since the  Giants won the Superbowl. The weight of each countries  pride was evident in the faces of its fans.

Superfans2

Once Inside fans were privy to experience the matches in a truly unique and engaging way. The entire theater was taken over by Nike. Each Nations flag was hung high above the theatre, Nike Soccer jerseys were fitted to block letters on the wall spelling out “Write Your Future” The main lobby area was converted into a bar where they gave away an unlimited supply of San Miguel beer, one of my faves, and occasionally tequila. For the non alcoholic drinkers who attended the far side of the bar free coffee, espresso and tons of complimentary bottled waters and energy drinks. And if the the free beverages weren’t enough each game had free food!!

Inside, the set up was perfect. A packed theatre filled with enthusiastic super fans screaming dressed in there country colors and faces painted waving flags. Watching any sporting event on a 30 foot screen just makes every single game epic. If the seats you wanted were already occupied by drunk raging fans and you were part of the lucky few you to work for the media, be an invited guest of Nillz or so happened to know Emily then you had the option of sitting in the lounge sections towards the rear of the theatre.

There was  nothing better than watching everyone forget about their  daily problems, put aside their differences and just agree  on something as simple as kicking a ball into the back of  a net. And even if it was just for a couple weeks, this  simple game of soccer showed us that there is hope for all  of us in life, as individuals and as a country. Big shout  outs go to my World Cup 20X crew who atteneded the  matches with me: Tamara Dhia, Tony Flohr, Neran  Dhas, Peter Benedicto, Jenilee Reyes, TK Nyguen, Mark Chinapen and the lovely Emily Shin. And a big shout out to NIKE for creating a great cultural and brand experience.

PS: NIKE_ I really hope you guys do something similar for the upcoming 2011 NBA Playoff Finals featuring the Lakers and the Heat!!!
